Julia Franco, a style pundit with a keen eye for culture and craftsmanship, unveils Nosso, a unique Brazilian décor and lifestyle store in Cape Town.
Nosso means “ours” in Portuguese. Julia chose this name for a reason – it encapsulates the essence of this venture. It’s all about heritage, culture, and passion woven into each piece they offer. Nosso curates a diverse collection of art and décor pieces from Brazil. Think intricate woodwork, mesmerizing tapestries, and vibrant ceramics that breathe life and colour into your surroundings.
Julia noticed the global trend of muted tones in design, but she believed that South Africa’s vibrant spirit deserved something more. Nosso is her way of adding a burst of colour to the scene, and she’s got a point. South Africa deserves the richness and warmth that these Brazilian pieces bring.

Picking a favourite from Nosso’s treasure trove is a challenge for Julia. But she’s really into the ceramic animal collection and their handmade beach chairs are hard to resist.
And the excitement doesn’t stop there. Julia has big plans for Nosso. She’s looking to host artists, like Brazilian photographer Renata Larroyd, who’ll present her new project in January 2024. Julia sees Nosso as a bridge connecting different countries, with Brazil as the starting point.
Julia found the perfect home for her vision along Sea Point’s main road. It took her six months of scouting, but she found the right space. Working with celebrated retail designer Haidyne Azevedo, they’ve created a space with shades of indigo blue and coral, providing the backdrop for a diverse array of items.
Nosso is more than just a store; it’s the seed of a big idea – a bridge connecting the rich tapestries of South Africa and Brazil. Julia sums it up with a smile, “We have so much more to offer than another grey room with a grey couch.”
